THE ROOTS - Illadelph Halflife

*whoof* Been a minute, hasn't it? Darn winter instincts making me conserve calories rather than burn 'em.

As the title of this album suggests, I get some real 'Illmatic' vibes off of The Roots' third record. Maybe it's because there's more emphasis on studio produced beats rather than strictly jazz jams. Not that they don't make room for some of it in the back-end, but yeah, a grittier, rugged LP, this.

Of course, everyone knows it for the 'What They Do' vid.
