Ether Diver

Southern California Fedi friends! I'm selling some gear to prepare for a near future move. A few highlights:

Nakamichi LX-5 3-head cassette deck
Elektron Model: Cycles
Catalinbread Echorec
Boss DS-1
Kawai MM-16 controller (would probably sell the K4r too if someone really wanted it)
Zoom 1204 rack mount fx

Priced to move, esp for Fedi pals!

If you're into any of that, or know someone who is, HMU and let's make a deal.

I also have waaay too many handheld cassette and microcassette recorders. If you're looking for one, I can make that happen too.

@etherdiver

Why did microcassettes never catch on for microcomputers in the 1980's?

@kim they did to some degree! I've definitely seen microcassette storage on a few old computers. I expect the problem was that tape is super slow, and that microcassette's noise floor made failed loads a little too common.

@etherdiver I’ve been looking for a microcassette recorder to digitize some old tapes! Would love to talk about if I could get one from you.

@theseliminaldays Where are you located and do you have any specific needs re: the machine's capabilities (i.e. speed control, headphone jack, etc)

@etherdiver I’m in Little Rock Arkansas and I think the things I’d need most would be at least a line or headphone out so I could record out to a computer from it. I don’t think speed control would be necessary but it couldn’t hurt.

@theseliminaldays cool, that's easy enough. I think only one lacks a phone out and a different one is mono speed, so most of the others should suit you fine. I'm pretty sure I can ship it in a priority mail small box, which is like $12-13 shipping. Might be a bit cheaper USPS ground but much slower. I'd have to check and get you a price on that.

For the recorder, is $15 reasonable? I paid ~$10-15 for most of the ones I have, so it's close to cost.

So total would be maybe $30 shipped. LMK

@etherdiver nice Nak. I have a BX-300 I need serviced, similar but different. You probably should put it on tapeheads

@bittersweetdb Seems likely. Wife works for the feds, so...

@etherdiver 🙁 Ugh. Well, April 5 is Wonder Valley Experimental Music Fest, if you want to drive out to the desert and see some cool bands playing for free.

@bittersweetdb I remember this festival! This is the one you were telling me about last year when I got here? You even suggested I maybe should play it, if I recall correctly.
